Friday Septemer 12th 2025 Our Way To The Barber Shop (Klassique Barbers, 81 Atlantic Road, Brixton London SW9 @klassiquebarbers (You Can Schedule An Appointment Online By Clicking Here: https://klassiquebarbers.as.me/?calenderID=9026743 – Hairdresser @LennoxStarlife23), We Spotted An Intriguing Restaurant At Few Doors Down (At No. 69).
It Had A Vast Shop Front, Was Dark In Colour, Had An Al Fresco Dining Area Adjacent To It But Across The Way From It On A Nearby Delineated Pavement Area – And A Door That Was Slightly Ajar. Intrigue Got The Better of Us So We Popped Our Head In To See What Was Happening (If Anything). We’re So Glad We Did. What A Discovery. It Was Like A Magical Oriental Place Greeted Our Eyes Which Were Feasting On What Lay Before Us And Increasingly Open Wide.
Cholu The Barman, The Only Other Visible Occupant of The Venue Greeted Us With A Friendly Smile And A Happy Disposition.
This Was Our Introduction To Brixton’s Dim Sum Bar And Live Burlesque Cabaret Club. ‘The Courtesan’. It Feels Like A Club Because As A Caberet Bar Restaurant It Has A Dark, Warm, Cosy Interior, And A Dynamic Line Up of Regular Bulesque Performers. And It’s Big On Body Positivity, Female Empowerment, And Girl Power! The (Male) Musical Director, Who Hails From The West End, Has Been There For Ten Years. Little Wonder. It’s Wonderful. And Local!
Robin, The Manager, Flamboyent, Fabulous And Fiercely Efficient, Invited Us To Come Back And Watch The Show Later That Night. So We Did! Suffice To Say We Intend To Go Again. It’s A Great Night Out!
