On The Journey Home With Patrons of A Local Italian Restaurant We’d All Just Frequented We Discovered Roses So Fragrant That We Wished We Could Have Sprayed Them On Like Perfume. Their Scent Was So Rosie Strong, Yet Floral Soft, And Naturally Sweet. Fragrant And Fabulous.
They Were Exceptional. Worthy of Any Flower Show. Worthy of Any High Quality Perfumery. Their Simplicity And Beauty Made Them Stunning. It Was An Unexpected Treat of The Evening. Our Fellow Patrons Kindly Gave Us A Cutting To Take Home. Over The Next Few Days They Way They Opened Up Was Sensational.
Inside Their Open Bulb, Now In Full Bloom, Was A Generosity of Beautiful Petals Which Form Recurring Circles Full of What We Like To Call Abundant Cups of Natural Floral Pink Tissues.
One Just Wants To Spray Them On And Wear Them All Day Because They Smelt As Sensational As They Look.
Pink Is Also Our Favourite Colour.
They Were Totally Gorgeous.

The Editor’s Namesake Here At TheOrator.Press Is Rose So We Have A Particular Penchant For These Flowers. Indeed When We Visited The Hampton Court Flower Show In 2023 We Were Thrilled To Speak With The Head of Roses As Blue Diamond Nursery And Bring Back Home Some of Their Stunning Roses. They Were More Like Little Miniture Teacup Roses In A Shrub Rosebush With Lots of Pretty Clusters (As Pictured Below In The Award-Winning Wooden Spoon Garden Hampton Court 2023). All The Other Roses Are From Our Kind Neighbour’s Large Rose Bush. We’ve Featured Some of Them In Peroni Bottles Because That’s What We Took A Couple of Beers Away From The Restaurant That Night And So It Seemed Natural And Simple And Right.
(BTW The Rose In The Little Ornamental Vase Below Is ‘Ornamental Too’. It’s Fabric And We’ve Had It For Years. Compares Well, Doesn’t It?)
The Roses We Were Introduced To By Our Neighbours Belong To A Number of Large Rose Trees Which Are Owned By The Married Couple Who Have Cultivated Their Garden Over The Last 50 Years Since Moving In During The Mid-70s And Living Nearby To Fabulous Italian In Which We’d All Just Eaten. They Were Keen To Show Us Their Pride And Joy Which They Had Been Talking About Over Dinner On Saturday May 17th 2025. They Were Thrilled With The Scent Fragrancing Their Garden.
It’s Very Timely As The RHS Chelsea Flower Show Opens With Press Day On Monday (May 19th 2025) And We Have Press Accreditation To Attend. We Went Two Years Ago And Saw The King On His First Ever Visit As King Following The Passing of The Queen The Year Before In September 2022.
One of The Most Memorable Things About That Special Moment To Us Was The Fragrance That Wafted In The Air As The Wind Caught A Wonderful Whiff of The King’s Aftershave. He Literally Smells of Nobility, Majesty And High Society. He Is A Very Fragrant Man. It Reminded Us of When The Judge In One of Lord Archer’s Several Trials Described His Wife As “A Very Fragrant Woman!”.

Our Sense of Smell Is One of Our Most Powerful Yet Under-Used Senses And That Researchers Have Revealed That We Respond Strongly To Smell In The Limbic Brain. That Is The Part That Deals With Emotions And Memories. Hence We Can Have Strong Reactions To Scents And Fragrances (As Well As Odours And Smells).

So We Literally Took Time To Stop And Smell The Roses. And We Are So Glad We Did. They Smelt Magnificent.
So Much So That This Introduction Could Be A Dream Come True In Terms of That Often Repeated Phrase By So Many Different People About So Many Different Things, Which Goes Along The Lines of “If I Could I Would Bottle It…”.
We Think This Couple Could Be Sitting On A Floral Fortune And As Such They Could Literally Be Coming Up Smell of Roses If They Got Experts To Cultivate Their Horticultural Treasures. We Have Previously Been Granted Press Access To The RHS Chelsea Flower Show To Cover It And The Hampton Court Garden Festival As Well Where We’ve Met Some Impressive Rose Specialist People. Plus We’ve Also Met A Fabulous Aromatherapist Expert, About Whom We’ve Written About Before Now In This Very Magazine.
Between Them They May Have Some Good Ideas Or Guidance About How To Produce A Pretty Special Plant Based Natural Rose Perfume.
