Richie, Ever The Teacher, Tells Us That Their First Album ‘4 From 8’ (In 1977) Was So Named Because The Four Members of The Band Came From The Area Known As Liverpool 8 On Merseyside At A Time When Members of The Black Community Were Making A Concerted Effort To Break Away From The Shackles of Discrimination, Poverty, And Police Brutality.
The Real Thing Were A Britsh Soul Funk Band, At A Time When The Civil Rights Movement of The 60s Was Being Superceded By The Emergence of Hip Hop In The 70s And The Black Power Movement Both Here And In America.
