A Black History Month Special

The BBTAs 2025. Style, Fashion, Passion, Piccadilly, Prada, Progress And A Night Out Like No Other. This Theatre Awards Event Continues To Grow And Get Better & Better!

We First Covered This Pioneering Event In 2023. It Was At The National Theatre And It Was The Award Ceremony’s Fifth Anniversary. It Was Impressive, Had A Great Energy And Great Variety. Black Opera Talent, Black Ballet Talent, Black Jazz Talent, Black Rock Talent. Young And Old. Black, Brown And White. It Was A Great Night. In Particular We’ll Never Forget The Impact of Seeing A Deaf Interpreter Appear On Stage (And Stay All Night) Had On A Deaf Member of Our Party. Her Face Light Up All Bright And Sparkly.

Last Year It Was At The Lyceum Theatre, Covent Garden. Right In The Heart of The West End. A Great Night Again. And The Great And The Good of The Theatre World Were In Attendance. A Performance From The Cast of The Lion King In Particular Led To Roars of Delight From The Packed Audience.

This Year It Was At The Picadilly Theatre Where Moulin Rouge Is Showing And Where ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Star, Vanessa Williams, Put In An Apperance. This Despite The Fact That She’s Headlining The Designer Musical At The Dominion Theatre. That’s The Calibre It Attracts. This Event Is Literally Getting Better And Better By Design.

The Speeches Were On Point, Powerful And Wonderful. And In One Particular Stand Out Case The Winner’s Speech Was So On Point, Powerful And Wonderful It Was Simply Beautiful And Left Some People Tearful. Mentioning No Names! But To The Speechmaker We Give An Editorial Shout Out At The End of This Article.

This Celebratory Event Seemed Especially Important And Poignant This Year Given The Rampant Political, Social, Racial And Seemingly Official Destruction Rife In America Right Now. Old, Young, Those In The Middle, Black, Brown, White And Allies Had A Great Night As The Awards Showcased Black Talent In The Theatre World. In Our Reporting We Made A Point of Asking Those We Interviewed Why They Felt The Event Was Important And What They Thought of The BBTAs Achievements In Establishing And Building The Annual Nubian Thespian Celebration. The Answers Were Pretty Much The Same; It’s Necessary. It’s Great. And The Participants Are Grateful!

The Famous Faces, The Foundlings, The Fashion, The Passion, The Poignancy And Energy Made For A Great Theatrical Evening of Appreciation. Once Again…Roll On Next Year. Long May It Continue.

Power To The People! The Fabulous People! The Thespian People! And Their Supporters, Friends & Allies.
