In 2018 Former Tennis Umpire Anthony Nimmons Filed A Law Suit Against The USTA (United States Tennis Association Claiming That He Was Fired After He Reported A Number of Incidences of Racial Discrimination From His Colleagues Despites The Being Fully Aware He Was An Advocate For Divertisy Equality And Inclusion In Tennis.
Nimmons Who Had Been An Umpire For Over A decade, Having First Professionally Umpired In 1994, Outlined In His Law Suit That He Had Been Called A Series of Racist Names By Particular Colleagues And Was Claiming Unspecified Damages.
Nimmons Had Attended The Grand Slams And the Lower Ranking Events Throughout is Career. He Declared That He Loved Tennis And Wantd His Job Back At The USTA.
Following An Initial Investigation By The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission It Was Concluded That There Was “Credible Evidence” of Discrimination And A “Right To Sue” Letter Was Appropriate (Which It Duly Issued).
At The Time A USTA Spokesperson Replied “USTA Strictly Prohibits Discrimination And Retaliation In Its Workplace” And “We Categorically Deny The Claims Of Mr. Nimmons And Will Vigorously Defend The Suit”.
