Naomi Campbell Is The First of All The Supermodels of The 1990s To Have Her Own Large Scale Exhibition In London.

There Has Never Been Another Supermodel Team Like That of Naomi And Her Friends Since Then. And She Is The One That Continues To Work And Walk The Runway Most Regularly. Her Beauty Remains Undiminished To This Day.

Now Aged 54 She Is Still As Beautiful, Charismatic And Capable As Ever. Nonetheless She Acknowledges The Passage of Time Rather Than Trying To Fight It And Her Focus Is Clearly On Helping The Next Generation.

Talking of Which, The Exhibition Includes A Picture of Her With The Eldest of Her Two Recent Babies Which She Had In Her Fifties, The First of Which She Had Just Two Years Ago, And The Second of Which Is Just A Matter of Months Old. She Recently Revealed That She Had Both of Her Children Through Surrogacy. She Is A Groundbreaker In So Many Ways. Coincidentally Janet Jackson Had Her Son When She Was 50 (Eight Years Ago).

Campbell Was The First Black Model To Grace The Cover of French Vogue, The Story of Which Features In The Exhibition, As Does The Story of Her Involvement In The Groundbreaking And Beautiful 2008 ‘Black Vogue’ Italian Vogue Campaign, Which Sought To Achieve More Black Models Being Booked For Jobs In The Fashion Industry And Showcased Their Style And Beauty Especially. At The Other Extreme Anna Sui Pre Spice Girl Baby Spice Look Caused Controversy Due To It’s School Girl Comparisons But Anna Sui Says She Was Inspired By The Rock Chic Look At The Time. For Instance See @AnnaSui Years Later And Anna Sui Herself

Her Fight Against Racism And Discrimination In The Fashion Industry And Society Generally Is Heartfelt As Is Her Charity Work Such Fashion For Relief.Org She Is Also Especially Interested In The Development of The Fashion Industry In Africa.

Pervasive Throughout The Exhibition In The Fact That Naomi Generously Let’s Us Share A Number of Her Special Relationships Built Up Over The Years And How She Did It. She Provides Us With An Explanation And An Education. Given That Her Charisma, Class And Compelling Beauty Have Prevailed Over 40 Decades It’s A Fashion Parade Over Several Different Historical Ages Such That A Model’s Career Is Unlikely To Pan Out The Same Way Today. But What Shines Out Is How She’s Conducted Herself In Order To Become A Satorial Survivor Unlike Any Other.

Her Work Ethic, Her Family Support, Especially From Her Strong Mother Who Came From The World of Entertainment And Could Guide Her Daughter. Also Her Maternal Aunt, Valerie’s Sister. Her Loyalty. Her Individuality. Her Friendships With Fellow Supermodels, Such As Fellow South Londoner Kate Moss (From Croydon), Cindy Crawford, Christie Turlington, And Linda Evangelista (Who Famously Declared At The Height of Her Powers That She’s “Not Getting Out of Bed For Less Than £15,000”). Her Respect For Her Elders, Non More So Than Nelson Mandela, The First Black Prime Minister of South Africa, Whom She Met On Her Travels And Who Is Her Great Inspiration For Her Keeness To Develop Vogue Africa And The African Fashion Industry.

Azzedine Alaia And The Bandage Dress

Above 1990: Azzedine Alaia & Naomi Campbell With His Famous Bandage Dress. Seeing This Dress In The Exhibition Automatically Reminded Us of The Liz Hurley Versace Dress Which Came Four Years Later.

Firstly The ‘Bandage Dress’ (Naomi & Alaia) And Then ‘The Safety Pin Dress. (Versace & Elizabeth).’

Above 1994: Liz Hurley In The Versace Pin Dress She Wore To The Premiere of Four Weddings And A Funeral With Her Then Boyfriend Hugh Grant. It Brought Her To The World’s Attention And Helped Seal Her Celebrity Status.

But As We Can See Clearly From This Exhibition, Naomi Did It First.

Interesting!

Azzedine’s Bondage Dress Was Designed In Black, Red, & White.

Naomi Says: “The Elasticity Is Still There Today. He Was A Perfectionist About His Fabric.

The Late Tunisian Designer Said of Naomi:

Her Physique Is Like That of A Racehorse.

Throughout The Exhibition The Streatham Supermodel Tells You Which Outfits Were Worn When And Who Designed Them. Wonderfully Too Many To Mention or Include Here. Amongst Them There’s The Late Alexander McQueen And His Wonderful Tartan Dress. Tartan Too By Vivienne Westwood. Tartan Is Frankly A Favourite of Ours. There’s A Wonderful White Feather Dress By Yves Saint Laurent. A White Fluffy Coat By Michael Kors. Karl Largefeld At Chanel (A Glorious Wavey Wrap Gown of Pink & Silver). The Late Alexander McQueen At Givenchy (A Gold Sculpted Dress With A Twist Is Also One of Our Favourites). It Highlights That Time Honoured Fashion Truism Which Commands The Wearer To Try An Outfit On Because “It Looks Different On” (As Highlighted Below). And Sarah Burton At Alexander McQueen Brings Beauty, Bodice And Beads. To Name But A Few.

We Especially Love Her Muse Relationship With “The King of Cling” Alaia Azzedine. We Can’t Help But Recall The 1994 Versace Dress Worn By Liz Hurley To The 1994 Premiere of Four Weddings And A Funeral Starring Huge Grant. Azzedine And Naomi Had What Appears To Be Their Own Version. The Comparisons Are Self-Evident. Hurley’s Son Damien (Who Looks Impossibly Beautifully Like His Mother) Features In The Exhibition (On The Talking Wall). @elizabethhurley1 fondationazzedinealai

With Her Inclusion And Personal Recollection of The Famous 1993 Vivienne Westwood Fashion Show Fall Campbell Demonstrates That She Is Not Afraid To Laugh At Herself. For This, And The Excellence, And Generosity, And Educational And Inspirational Value of This Exhibition She Has Endeared Herself To Us And Elevates Herself To An Even Higher Sartorial Legendary Status Throughout The World.
