TheOrator.Press Events Page. “Events Dear Boy, Events.” The Sierra Leone Arts & Crafts Festival, Brixton House Theatre, Feeds The Soul & Fills The Studios, As Sierra Leonean Wine Producer Brings Something New To The Table ~ November 2023 ~

Cuisine Fit For A King

An Official Partner To The Event, ‘ShwenShwen‘, The Purveyor of Fine Food & Wines, Owned By Maria Bradford, Was Also In The House (@Brixton House) Representing. The Sierra Leonean Chef Turned Businesswoman Was There Promoting Her New Book ‘Sweet Salone’ And Gave A Presentation In One of The Studios To A Packed Out Audience As Part of A Talk Called ‘The Journey of Jollof’ (Africa’s Favourite Rice!). Meanwhile Her English Husband, Ben, Held Down The Fort On What We’re Calling The Her ‘Book & Booze’ Stall In The Main Foyer, Where Her New Book & Fabulous Wine Was For Sale. Such Was The Teamwork of The ‘ShwenShwen’ Fine Dining Food & Wine Team. And Boy What A Team! It Was Fun Meeting Them They Had Style, Charisma & A Depth of Knowledge In Equal Measure. And This Husband & Wife Team Are Both Lovely Human Beings @shwenshwenbymaria.

Obviously We Had To Sample The Wine They Were Displaying. And It Was Delic’. Both The Vino Bianco (Spumante Extra Dry) And The Sparkling Rose (Extra Dry). Well, We Like To Be Thorough!
What We Especially Loved About This Wine Was The Fact That In Addition To Its Lovely Content, The Presentation Comes In The Form of A Stylish Bottle Which Has A Wonderful Combination of A Silver Foil At The Top, Dark Bottle In The Middle (Unique Navy or Deep Dark Pink Respectively) And White Sash Which Includes A Bio’ & Photo of Maria On The Back. It’s So Tastefully Done & Original. Indeed We Shared A Table (As Seating Was Sadly Sparse) With A Lovely British/Spanish Family of 5 ( Toddler Twin Girls, An Older Brother, Mum And Dad) And As Dad Was Driving Only Mum Accepted Our Offer To Share A Glass. Her Subsequent Feedback Was:

That’s The Nicest Glass of Sparkling Rose I’ve Ever Had

Vistor To The Sierra Leone Arts & Culture Festival 2023, Brixton House, After A Glass of ShwenShwen Rose Prosseco
High Praise Indeed (Especially As This Lady Worked In Marketing For An Engineering Company, If We Remember Correctly). We Second Her Opinion As Both The Extra Dry & The Rose Were Light, Clean, Smooth, And Beautifully Bubbly With Just The Right Amount of Alcoholic Kick Without Being Too Hard (Being A Gentle ll.5% Alcohol). And The Rose Added A Little Extra Delicate Fragrance And Colour. Both Are Absolute Winners.

And “For The Perfect Afro-Fusion Cocktail” ShwenShwen Suggest Adding Their ‘Passionately Bissap Hisbiscus & Strawberry Juice’ To The Bianco.

This Sierra Leone Luxury Brand Is Growing & Going From Strength To Strength. So Much Is Happening With Them Right Now (Pictures From Instagram). To Name But A Few Things That Includes…Having Been Featured Food Hosts On Ch4’s Flagship Foodie Magazine Show Sunday Brunch @shwenshwenbymaria, Launching Maria’s New Book ‘Sweet Salone ~ Reciepes From The Heart of Sierra Leone’ In July (As Posted By High End Sierra Leone Textile Design Company @darleonelondon) And Also In July Hosting A Private Supper Club Fine Dining Evening At Fortnum & Mason. The King’s Grocer’s No Less. It Was Held In Fortnum’s New Third Floor Food & Drink Studio. (TO.P Had The Exclusive Honour of Being Shown Around The New Floor To Ceiling Glass Venue By The Meticulous & Endearing Executive Chef There Back In March This Year. In Simple Terms It’s Lush!

Roll On #SLAC Fest 2024! Meantime They Say There’s A Spotify Playlist From This Year To Keep You Going In Between If You Want More As The Music Can Be So Moving & Beautiful

It Was A Really Lovely Day With Lots of Good People Around.

Although I Didn’t Get To Go Inside Where The Talks Were Held,

I Noticed People Really Enjoyed Our Organic Ginger Drink.

I’d Definetly Attend Again In The Future.
