TheOrator.Press TV Review: ‘The Capture’ Does What It Says On The Tin. Or Does It? It’s A Question of Evil Genius or Philanthropic Good Through Technology Use or Abuse (Rather Like A Classic Plot of A Superhero or Bond Movie) ~ June 2023

Holliday Grainger As Good Cop DI Rachel Carey & Callum Turner As Accused Lance Corporal Shaun Emery

This Is High Level Police Intelligence As Opposed To Base Mentality Mindless Police Brutality,

Thuggery & Violence.

On Either Level It Represents A Deeply Disturbing & Disgusting Dereliction of Duty.

And It Is Technology That Saves The Day.

Or Is It?

Ron Pearlman (Sons of Anarchy) Is An Establishment Anarchist And A Seriously Spooky Voyeur With A Thing For CCTV & Cameras. He Gives A Masterclass In Taking Not Giving When It Comes To Certain Information (It’s Worth Paying Attention). In Real Life (Such As It Is) He’s A Super Cool Guy @perlmutations. Ginny Holder Good Cop In BBC 1’s Ever Popular Death In Paradise. Not So Clear As DS Nadia Latif In BBC 1’s The Capture (Green Top/White Shirt). Lia Williams (Black Coat & Polo Neck) Is Utterly Loathsome As DSU Gemma Garland And Part of A Tech Drama Cast Which Is World Class. It Even Includes Femke Janssen (Golden Eye) The Famous Bond Villian With The Killer Thighs, Xenia Onatopp (Black Top). Sophia Brown @sophiamoniquebrown (Pony Tail/Polo Neck) Plays Emery’s Ex And Mother To Their Daughter, of Whom She’s Very Protective. And About Whom He’s Very (Uncharecteristically) Sensitive.

Series 1 of BBC 1’s The Capture Is Currently Available On BBC iPlayer And Was Broadcast Again Recently On Mainstream TV During June 2023 On Both BBC 1 (Post Watershed) And BBC 4 (Late Night In The Early Hours of The Morning Showing Consecutive Episodes. We Love It When They Do That. That’s How We Got Into Peaky Blinders And Developed A Mild Obsession. But It’s Not About Them Right Now). Having Originally Aired In September 2019 This Best Actor TV BAFTA Nominated Thriller Is As Thrilling And Breathtaking As Ever. It’s Worth Watching Again Just To Be Sure You Saw What You Thought You Saw. And More. Especially In This ‘Post Truth’ And Chinese Spy Ballons Era.

To Say This Six Part Deepfake, Deep State, Deeply Disturbing, Surveillance Technology Thriller It’s Complicated Would Be An Understatement. It’s Unreal. Literally. And Extraordinarily Revealing And Telling of Today’s Surveillance Policing And Corruption of Technology. And It Highlights The Reality of Technological Treachery Or Rather Non Reality In Some Cases. Can We Believe What We Are Being Told? That Is The Question.

The Camera Never Lies. Forget It! This Is All About The Terrible, Yet Official Mis-use of Technology. Or Is It? The Capture Does Exactly What It Says on The Tin. It’s Beyond Complicated. But It’s Utterly Captivating. Here “Seeing Is Deceiving”.

There’s A Court Martial. Plus A Seperate Murder Investigation. And There’s Video Evidence To Prove What Happened. Or Is There? Well It Looks Like It. And Someone Gets Convicted. And Sent To Prison. Largely In Part Because of What Things Look Like. But Looks Can of Course Be Deceiving. And Soon A Human Rights Lawyer Takes Up The Case As A Miscarriage of Justice. Or Does She? Really?

Nothing Is What It Seems!

There’s Extreme In-Fighting Within The Police, Who In This Drama Take The Notion of BBC’s Line of Duty And It’s A12 Unit To A Whole New Level. Indeed To A Level Involving Government Warrants, The Secret Service Who Are Involved In All Kinds of Spooky Collusions, And Dodgy Addresses. Ron Pearlman (Sons of Anarchy) @Permultations Is Especially Spooky As A Shady Character, American Frank Napier, With A Lot of Power Who Appears To Be Very Nefarious And Operating In Several Areas With All Kinds of Cameras. And He Especially Doesn’t Like Unexpected Vistors. And, Scarily, He Uses The British Police To Get Rid of Them.

It Is Terrifying. And Fatal For Some. Could There Really Be State Sanctioned Witness Tampering In Order To Send A Message To A Diligent British Detective Trying To Do The Right Thing? Well An Expert Technology Witness Lying In A Coma Would Say So.  If Only He Could. Which Is Why Suddenly He Can’t!

There Are Members of The Public With Cameras. Police Cameras. CCTV Recordings. Video Manipulations. Blind Spots. Face-Matching. Facial-Recognition. Photo-Shopping. Corrections. Edits. Stitches. Wipes. Frame-Crossings. Duplicate Filmings. Voiceovers. Reel Re-Splicing. Dying Not Dying. Set Ups. Take Downs. Investigations. Re-Assignments, And False Promotions. Clear Professional Obfuscation And Procrastination. Which Is Wrong, But Real. Questionable Coroners. Cops Copping Off Together. Secret Calls To Former Lovers. Hiding In Plain Sight. Hideaways In The Countryside. And Hiding Behind A Veil of So-Called Unauthorised Information Sharing. The Masterminding Meetings To Mind-Sweep The Brains of The Niave, But Keen. It’s All Going On And It’s All Kicking Off!

Especially In A Nightclub Where A Theory Is Espoused That It Makes Sense For A Captor To Talk With A Captive There Because No One Can Hear Them (Alma Played By Adelayo Adebayo And Shaun Emery Played By Callum Turner Respectively). That Looked And Sounded Like Utter Bunkum. And Indeed It Is. And It All Kicks Off. Big Time. In Real Time. And A World of Duplicity, Double-Dealing And Technological Treachery Is Exposed.

Playing God? All Seeing, All Knowing? Lawless Technology?

Trailer, The Capture, Series 1, BBC 1

Comparable To How Certain Print Publications Have A Thing For Blonde Hair And Blue Eyes We Here We Have A Soft Spot For Redheads And Italians. And Frankly We Simply Adore Holliday Grainger. Holliday Clark Grainger To Be Precise. Her Name Alone Sounds Like A Superhero!

She Is A Great Actress, Who Just  Happens To Often Appear As A Strawberry Blonde (A Particular Shade of Ginger Which Varies In Tone According To Sun Exposure) And Who Also Has An Italian Grandmother. We Love Watching Her On Screen As She Has A Certain Presence And Vocal Delivery. Now She Also Has Twins Having Given Birth In 2021 To Two Beautiful Babies Who’s Proud Father Is Actor Harry Treadwell, A Twin Himself (With His Brother Luke).

Grainger Was Exquisitely Outrageous And Super Scandalous In The Borgias As  Lucrezia Borgia (Sky 2011-2013). Again A Hotbed of All Kinds of Sex. Including The Shocking And Illegal Act of Incest.

She Was Great In The Great DH Lawerence Classic Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Starring In The 2015 TV Production. (She Had Big Shoes To Fill Following Another Two of Our Favourites Who Previously Starred In The Much Hyped At The Time 1993 Version, Namely Acting Royalty Joely Richardson And Her Mellors of The Moment, Sean Bean). Grainger Did Marvellously With Richard Madden As Her Mellors In This Horticultural Hotbed of Hot Sex.

She (Well Her Character) Was Less Empathetic In Branagh’s 2015 Cinderalla As An Ugly Sister, Anastasia Tremaine, The Same Year As Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

If You Wanted To Pass Fake Footage of As Real, You’d Want Somebody Niave To Find It

DCI Rachel Carey (Played By Holliday Grainger) In BBC 1’s Tech Drama ‘The Capture’

And She Also Starred In The Complicated 2017 Film Tulip Fever (Which Was Also Screened Again On The BBC This Month ~ BBC 2 11.30 Sunday Night June 25 2023 To Be Precise). But The Film Infamously Bombed At The Box Office Only Recouping 9 Million of Its 25 Million Budget. It Was Reportedly One of The Last Films To Be Produced By The Sex Scandal Plagued Weinstein Film Company Which Folded In July 2018. The Film Was Released In December Later That Same Year.

An All Star Cast Could Not Save It. Not Even Dame Judi Dench And Christoph Waltz Both of Bond Calibre. Nor Tom Holland And David Harewood (The Latter of Whom This Month Gave An Excellent Lecture On The 75th Windrush Annivesary 2023 As The Chosen One For The Annual Dimbleby Lecture). Nor Tomb Raider Actress Alicia Vikanda And Supermodel Cara Delevingne.

Delevingne Herself Gave An Evidential Account of Her “Terrifying” Experience of The Real Life Movie Monster, Former Film Producer Harvey Weinstein. This Was A Very Brave Thing For Her To Do, And For Which We Respect Her Deeply. Due To Hers And Similar Such Bravery He Was Indeed Captured & Convicted In Real Life. For The Rest of His Life. The Movie Industry Is Leading Change With New Intimacy Coaches When It Comes To Filming.

Holliday Grainger As The Stunning Yet Scandulous And Incestuous Lucrezia Borgia In Sky’s The Borgias (From The Roman Empire To Eco Chambers)

What’s Particularly Notable, Quite Unnatural And Horrible To Witness In The Capture Is How DCI Carey’s Brightness, Courage, Righteousness And Quest For Justice Is Repressed By ‘The System’. It’s Always The System! It Even Gets The Good Ones. Why Can’t There Be A Good Cops Police Service With Genuine High Standards of Integrity & Investigation?

Grainger’s Character Is A Force To Be Reckoned With, Within A Force That Needs To Be Reckoned With. She Plays Fast Tracked Uni’ Graduate Cop DI Rachel Carey. Realizing That She’s Been Played She Starts Reviewing Certain Video Tapes That Have Also Been Played As Evidence (Both Historically And In Real Time) And Wakes Up To The Fact That Even Police Technology Is Bent As The Most Bent & Powerful Amongst Them. And That Self-Serving Bias Can Be Built Into The Use of High Tech Equipment. Question Is What Is She Going To Do About It?

G & T (Grainger & Turner) Share A Chemistry That Is Moreish And One of The Reasons Why This Production Is So Captivating. But There Was Something In Their Different Accents That Seemed A Little Affected. Yet We Can’t Quite Put Our Finger On What It Is. It Seemed Like An Imagined And Contrived Croydon Hommie/Posh Boy Mash Up That Was Largely Uncalled For. And That Turner Seemed To In And Slip Out of. And When Out of It What Was Left Was The Posh Boy Accent.

For The Record Not All Croydon Residents Speak The Same, As Illustrated By the Character of Emery’s Ex, Ruby Turner, Played By Actress Sophia Brown (Pictured Above), Who Speaks Consistently Well, Without Affected Enunciation or Intonation. She Learnt Her Craft At Identity School of Acting, Brixton. Despite Turner’s Peculiar Changing Vocal Tones, This Drama Is Excellent And His T’V BAFTA Nomination Speaks Volumns.

I Want To Break Down Stereotypes & Smooth Out The Grey Areas

Sophia Brown (Actress) @sophiamoniquebrown

Endings Are of Epic Importance And The Ending of This Surveillance Series Is A Bit of A Heartbreaker For Us. But We All See Things Differently.

Don’t We?

Do The Ends Ever Justify The Means? That’s What The Viewer Is Repeatedly Being Asked To Ask Themselves Again And Again.

Maybe One Day We’ll Just Have To Have Words With The Excellent Writer (A Former Intelligence Ops Documentary Maker) Ben Chanan And Ask Him If He Thinks We Humans, Especially Ordinary Citizens, Can Now Ever Again Simply Keep It Real, In A World of Wicked Technology, With Bias Built In, Technological Espionage And Perverted Justice. This Is Clever Writing And Can Only Have Come From One In The Know. We Have (Simple But Effective,Nice) Ways of Making Him Talk. Hopefully!

Meantime, It Is Clear That All Genius, Including Technological Genius, Can Be Used For Good or Evil. This Even Includes Modern Day Videos Which Are Apparently As Clear As The Crystal Clear Glass Structures That Run From Floor To Ceiling At The Shard. London’s Tallest And Most Transparent Building. An Observer’s High Class Paradise. Which Also Gets A Look In During This Series @The ShardLondon.

Beware. You Have Been Warned. Technological Treachery Is Everywhere!
