It Began With An Interview In March With A Veteran Notting Hill Carnival Photographer WhoIs Launching A New Photography Book This Month, Followed In April By A Poster In Peckham Library Advertising What Sounded Like A Rather Interesting And Glamourous Talk On The Phenomenon of The Faberge Egg. Intrigued, We Decided To Attend. It Was Delivered By A Self-Confessed Self-Conscious Librarian Who Came Into Her Own And Delivered One of The Best Talks We’ve Ever-Attended. @notamyfrance www. peckham library

Then There Was An Invitation To An Inaugural Spring Book Fayre Featuring Local Authors At A Local Library In May. Shockingly Here We Witnessed First Hand Several Most Blatant Acts of Erasure Committed In Real Time Against A Black Author.

The Perpetrator of The Erasure Was Also An Author. And The Event Moderator. Both Women Were On The Six Person Panel Especially Convened For The Event.

Amazingly, Whilst This Moderator’s Skills Were Shockingly Poor By Way of This In-Plain-Sight Erasure, Their Book (Which We Made A Point of Subsequently Reading, In Order To Gain A Greater Understanding of Their Mindset) Was Excellent. So Good In Fact That It Was Hard To Believe That This-Wittingly-or-Unwittingly Poor-Behaviour And Their Book Were The Work of One And The Same Person. Both Were A Piece of Work For Different Reasons.

So Jarring Was This Juxtaposition That We Felt Compelled To Ask Them For An Interview. They Agreed.

For Now, Suffice To Say People Can Be Different In Person To How They Are On Paper. Sometimes For The Better! Sometimes For The Worse! Sometimes Without Even Realising It.
