The Government of The Day Knew Exactly What They Were Doing When They Invited The Windrush Generation To Britain & Knew Exactly What They Were Doing When They Tried To Get Rid of Them Generations Later.
They Made Laws To Suit Their Own Convenience Each Time.
Lesson Learnt? The British Government Can’t Be Trusted.

The Windrush Generation. Those Who Came To Britain On The Ship HMS Windrush In 1948 & Through The 50s & 60s Under Invitation From The British Government To Members of The Commonwealth Countries, Following The End of World War II (In 1945) In Order To Help Rebuild The Country, Which Had Still Not Fully Recovered.
With The Prevailing Policitcal Adverts And Propaganda They Were Effectively Promised A Warm Welcome, A Land of Milk And Honey, And Streets Paved With Gold. Here They Could Work Hard, Make A Good Living, Build A Home And Raise A Family. Readily. Happily. Comfortably.
But What They Got Was An Entirely Different Reality. Cold. Snow. Ice. Police Brutality, Racism, Discrimination In Housing With Signs Saying “No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish”. And Ultimately The Windrush Scandal Which Cost Home Secretary Amber Rudd Her Job In 2018. Wherein They Were Subjected To A Hostile Environment And Told By The Establishment To Go Back Home. The Familiar Chant of The Extrement Right-Wing National Front And All Its Subsequent Versions. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/may/29/windrush-scandal-caused-by-30-years-of-racist-immigration-laws-report
But They Officially Asked Our Forebears To Come Over. And They Legally, Officially And Respectfully Came Over. And Despite The Official Mistreatment, The Lies And The Shabbiness They Were Subjected To, The Majority Survived. And They Are Staying. And So Are Their Descendents. And So Each Year on The 22nd of June The Afro-Caribbean Community Celebrates Because That’s The Day HMS Windrush Sailed Into Town In 1948 And Saw The Start of The Caribbean Community Officially Contributing To This Country As A Group of People And Changing It For The Better Forerever.

Then As Now, Business Networking, Collaboration, Building Economic Power Through Property, Evidence And Physical Presence, That’s What Counts And Makes A Difference, According To A Windrush Organisation Chairman From The ‘Pardoner’ Generation.
Pardoner: A Personal, But Purposeful, Private Property Funding Club Amongst Caribbean People Who Came To Britain As Part of The Windrush Generation. They Were Denied Banking Services From British Banking Institutions And So Invented Their Own Private Banking System of Pooling Funds And Taking It In Turns To Buy Properties For Themselves And Their Families.
Here’s Our Interview With Simeon Grosset, Chairman Of The Windrush Alliance (UK). We Also Include A Couple Of Our ‘TO.P Pod On A Page’ Interviews With The Founder’s Other Daughter, Francis Harry (Who Is Also A Director) And Feedback on The Event From One of The Visitors. It’s Important, Historical, Educational, Reflective of Caribbean Enterprise, And Inspirational.
The Chairman Explains What It Was Like For Members Of The Caribbean Community Trying To Establish Banking Services And A Business Community Back In The Day During 70s, 80s & 90s And Trying To Work With The Government of The Day. And What He Feels About The State Of Play Today. Plus He Also Shares A Few Sage Words of Advice For Continuing To Move Forward Generationally.

It Was Brixton Based Community-Minded Entrepreneur Basil Linx (Pictured Right) Who Later Helped Convince The Banking World That To Afford The Black Community Official Credit Like They Do Everybody Else – By Setting The Example Himself. During Our Interview With Him In June 2021 We Also Discovered That He’s Superceded That And Is Now Something of A Block Chain Expert. As Well As Being The Owner of Vegan Restaurant Food Chain Eat of Eden And Health & Well-Being Shop Pempamsie.

The Windrush Adventurers Did Not Really Know What They Were Getting Into When They Left Their Hot Sunny Climes To Come And Help Out The Land of Empire. But They Soon Found Out. And It Was Rough. And It Was Tough. And In Some Instances It Was Bloody. Brutal. Fatal. And Murderous. There Remains Much Loss And Much Healing To Be Done.
But Ultimately The Majority of The Windrush Generation Survived. And Now Many Decendants Have Been And Remain Ready To Thrive. However This Is Only Possible After Many of The Early Arrivals Had To Fight The Good Fight For Survival, Recognition And Respect, Better Housing Conditions, Working Conditions, And The Exposure of Chronic Police Harrassment And Casual Day To Day Prejudice & Discrimination.
