TheOrator.Press Business Page: ‘The No & Low Alcohol Movement’ Enjoys Growing Buzz, Young Brand ‘Mi Sora’ Introduces Mighty Matcha Coolers & Cocktails, It’s A Double Win For ‘Double Dutch’ Tonics & Sodas ‘Standing Alone’ or ‘Mixing It Up’, New BCB Education Director Elliot Ball Means Business, And It’s A Proud Moment For ‘Sterling & Malcolm’ Showcasing Their New Generation British-Jamaican Rum. It Was All Happening At The Second BCB Bar Convention, London, Tobacco Dock, Wapping. May 2026

Anytime A Whole Bunch of People Get Together To Celebrate Their Art, There’s Going To Be An Intrinsic Sense of Culture To That.
The Brands In Question Are Going To Bring Some Culture.

If You’ve Got A Nicaraguan Rhum Involved In Something Then That Is Going To Channel Into The Things People Try To Embody In That Competition.
Because If You’re Entering A Competition You’re Not Just Making A Drink You’re Usually Trying To Tell A Story, Which Results In You Researching The Culture. It’s A Really Good Way To Share Cultures.

Since Brexit Ten Years Ago, Covid Six Years Ago, National Scandals Such As The Windrush Scandal, The Gather-Gate Scandal (aka Party Gate), The Post Office Scandal, The Liberal And Labour Government’s Renage On Tuition Fees, Even #MeToo Scandals And The Weinstein Scandal, Contemporary Workers Are Less Willing To Entertain Poor Working Conditions, Including Within The Hospitality Industry.

One of The Best Things About London As A Capital City Is It’s Cultural Diversity.
And This Is Directly Relevant By Having Brand Diversity In A City Like This.
You Have Loads of People Crossing Paths,
Having To Educate Themselves About These Places And These Products
And Try And Embody Them In These Stories.
Yeah I Think That’s An Inherently Cultural Event.

“I Think That’s What Happens When You Exhaust A Format.”

Having Watched Matthew Harris Give A Presentation On How To Make Today’s Cocktail Competitions Better We Look Forward To Seeing Him, Nc’Nean And A New-Age Competition In Action In Future.

He Also Gave An Presentation On Drinks Photography Featuring Photography App Snapseed, Which Included Photo Comparisons, Helpful Tips, And A Short Interactive Assignment. We Asked If It Can Retrospectively Fix Red Eye. Apparently It Can! Alas There Were No Recordings Otherwise We’d Share A Clip And A Tip Or Two Right Here. Elliot Hopes More Official Recording Will Be Available For Next Year.

My Heart Is Generally Going To Be With The Workers.
The People Who Work In The Venues.
I Own A Bunch of Bars.
But I Work There.

Like,
I’m Still Every Saturday
At Cocktail Trading Co.
On Dispense
And I Don’t Want To Lose That.
I Don’t Want To Become Disconnected

From The Meaningful Parts of My Work
So That Everything Just Becomes A [F^^king] Number.

That’s Not Why You Open Bars.

Via His Instagram Page Clarke Invited People To Share Their Real Life Experiences In Hospitality, As Well As Comments Thoughts And Questions And How People Can Be Good To The People They Work With. He Wanted The TEA On Teams – “The Wins, Horror Stories And Burning Questions.” We Took The Opportunity To Put The LBC Caller’s Comments To The Panel And Get Their Reactions. They Were Surprising. Mixed. With Mixed Messaging.

La’mel Himself @lalalamel Said We Need To Try And Understand Such People As “We Can’t Hate Everyone”. That Was An Interesting Position. Especially As The Caller’s Desire Makes Clear The Direction From Which The Hate Is Coming! Jaimee Shields-Shabodalova @swiftbars Was More Exacting In Her Response. She Made Clear That Kind of Demand Would Not Be Entertained By Her. However Her Words Are Not Reflected On The Swift Bars Instagram Page, But For One Or Two Exceptions. @swiftbars

Bartender And Guest Panel Member Nicky Craig @Nicky_Craig Said Context Was Important, Explaining That He Himself Had Worked In Mauritius Where There Was Some Kudos (Amongst The Mauritius People) In Being Served By A White Person.Alex Lawrence Milia @alexlawrencemilia Appeared Quite Shocked By Nicky’s Reply. He Has Worked With The Influential Bar Owner Mr Lyan @mrlyan Who Owns White Lyan. But Again, Beyond The Two Men Themselves, There Appears To Be Little Evidence of Multi-Culturalism, Or Diversity or Inclusion On Their Instagram Pages.

Elliot Assures Us He’s Working On Recordings For Next Year, The Education Sessions Were Well Attended And Well Received. Meantime His Statement On Humanity Is Exactly On Point (See Page 4).
